Tampons Or Pads?Just Go With The Flow.

Tampons VS Pads - Everything You Need To Know!

Tampons or pads, pads or tampons? It is never easy deciding what works best. Each comes with its set of pros and cons. How does one decide when the parties are clearly divided?

Feminine hygiene is a big topic, given that a woman uses around 10,000 sanitary products in her lifetime.

When it comes to menstrual management, the choices for women are much better than what they were a few decades back. But the options have created confusion about which product is better to use – tampons or pads?

Pads, also called sanitary pads, have been around for a long time, counted among the early forms of hygiene. They are widely used today and come in many sizes, lengths and absorbency levels.

Tampons, too, come in many sizes and varying levels of absorption, and tampon use is gradually gaining preference among women of different age groups.

Despite the popularity of both these products, there are tampons vs pads debates that have not really arrived at a conclusion.

Whisper Sanitary Napkins tackles the issue head on and discusses the pros and cons of both the products, making it easier for you to decide what works best for you.

Tampons vs Pads - Which is better?

1. Comfort

Comfort is an individual issue. A tampon, once inserted, does not make its presence felt and leaves you free to pursue your day’s activities without any discomfort. But on the flip side, it takes practice to be able to insert the tampon inside your vagina properly.

A pad is an intrusive product for many, sitting there between your legs all day long. But it does have its advantages. All you do is stick it to your panty and you’re ready to go. Pads have come a long way today and there are many thinner, slimmer and more skin-friendly variants where you won’t even realise it’s there any longer.

2. Convenience

Pads and tampons, both win the convenience game. A tampon is smaller than a pad and can fit inside your clutch for a night out with your friends. The slim variety of padalso has this advantage and can be carried around without making its presence obvious.

Talking about obvious, a tampon cannot be seen through the tightest and shortest of clothes. A pad might limit your wardrobe a bit.

3. Protection

The quality of pads and tampons is excellent. Both are available in a variety of absorbency levels and can be picked according to how heavy your flow is.

The only difference is with a tampon, you are free to do whatever you want without fear of staining or leakage. And that includes swimming. Yes, with a tampon, you can jump into the pool safely.

4. Safety

Tampons and pads are both hygiene products and must be changed every 3-4 hours. It becomes even more important in the case of tampons because you could forget you have a tampon inside you.

Leaving a tampon in for too long puts you at risk of contracting a rare but serious disease called Toxic Shock Syndrome. But, don’t worry. If you change your tampons regularly you have no fear from it.

Remember, at the end of the day, a hygiene product is a personal choice and you should go with what feels most comfortable to you. You might want to try both products before deciding what your preference is. Some women use both products, sometimes even together. Find your comfort level and just go with the flow.
