Healthy Living Tips@ Reward Me

Trim your body, but not only…

The benefits of exercise go beyond your body. Exercise lifts self-esteem, builds your immune system, strengthens your brain and lightens anxiety and depression.

Shopping can provide great cardio and resistance exercise. For aerobics, try brisk walking between shops and aisles. For resistance, carry your bags rather than using a trolley. Squat to reach products on lower shelves and do calf raises while queuing.

Give your metabolism a kick-start.
Make sure you do one session of high-intensity exercise a week. Or try doing one session of interval training – when you do short bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by short recovery periods – and then alternate these high/low intensity bursts throughout one session. Including amla in your daily diet not only boosts metabolism but also helps achieve weightloss naturally. Check out these useful health benefits of amla for weight loss.

Go for a walk in your lunch break.
Try to find at least three different routes and vary them. Or do some stair-climbing. Scientists have found that sedentary women who start walking briskly for half an hour a day, four days a week, have almost the same low risk of heart attack as women who have exercised conscientiously their entire lives.

Get a personal trainer.
It’s difficult to make progress when you do the same thing week after week, year after year. Try something new. You’ll also have the support of a professional.

Get outdoors.
You’ll burn more calories if you exercise outside because your body has to work harder to stay warm.

Fast fit: boss yourself around at work

  1. Sit on your chair and squeeze your bottom for 10 sets of 10.
  2. Do a set of push-ups using your arms against your desk.
  3. Leg extensions are good for your abs – sit on your chair, hold your legs straight and lift up and down.
  4. Use the stairs instead of the lift. Jog up then walk down and repeat.
  5. Use the toilet on the floor above your own.
