4. Nuts:  Nature’s most complete food, include these in your diet to get much needed omega 3s and anti-oxidants.  A fistful a day is enough.

5. Fruits:  The adage “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” is really true.  With 4 grams of fibre, this nutritional powerhouse can also be used in salads and desserts.  Include seasonal fruit like mangoes, pineapples and oranges which also satisfy any sweet cravings.

6. Oils:  Oils like sesame, olive and mustard are a healthier option and also add flavour.

  1. Put quality back on your plate.  Cut out processed and junk food.  Eat whole grains and a lot of fruits and veggies.  Yes, the occasional indulgence is allowed.
  2. Drink at least 2 – 3 litres of water a day, even when you’re not thirsty. 
  3. Exercise as often as possible.  It’s the secret potion to keep illness and weight off.  You will feel better, eat better, sleep better.
  4. Measure your portions using measuring cups.  If you haven’t bought them yet, eat from a salad plate instead of a regular plate.  You will become more mindful of how much you actually eat.
  5. Snack right.  Snacking isn’t unhealthy.  It’s what you snack on that is.  If you happen to stray, stop moping and start working it off.  Eating fruits can actually help with pandering to your sweet tooth and fill you up at the same time. Make smart choices.
  6. Don’t starve yourself.  Eat small and frequent meals.  This will help to keep your metabolism high.
  7. Hire a personal trainer to stay motivated.  Walking with a friend is a good way to be social and get exercise too.
