Shampoo your hair like an expert

Consider a second round of shampoo if the bubbles don’t last through the first wash. Excess oil and dirt kill bubbles.

Admit it, we’re way harsh on our hair – especially in the shower. And while we may all feel like we’re shampooing experts, there are a few tips you can do to maximize cleansing and minimize hair damage. Here’s how to turn getting clean into getting gorgeous:

1. Detangle before Washing

A tight hairstyle pulls on hair roots and damages them. It even has a word for it – tractionhair loss – and occurs usually with braids and buns. If you tie a high ponytail and let it stay all day long, it can also be contributing to hair loss. This doesn’t mean you give up these hair styles for good, but just alternate between a loose style and a tight one.

2. Shampoo like an Expert

Like playing with your hair? Stop. Right now.Twisting it, pulling at it or just rubbing your hair repeatedly can lead to hair loss. An occasional touch will not harm, but compulsive touching and pulling can.

3. Conditioning 101

This is a no-brainer. Do not share your hair items or use someone else’s. Hair combs and brushes are silent carriers of infectious scalp diseases. Only visit a trustworthy hair salon that takes care to clean hair items properly between uses.

4. Blot, Don’t Rub

It’s your hair, be gentle. Do nottowel wet hair roughly or comb it too harshly. As far as possible, let your hair dry naturally. If you must blow-dry, keep it at a low temperature.
