Parmesan paper bread

Broken into crispy, cheesy shards, paper bread is the perfect carrier for a delicious dip.


Ingredients (serves 8 people)

  • 125ml water
  • 45ml olive oil
  • 5ml salt
  • 280g (500ml) cake flour, plus extra for rolling out
  • 100g Parmesan cheese, finely grated

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 220°C.


  2. Place water, oil and salt together in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Stir with wooden spoon while adding the flour gradually until the dough has a stiff, kneadable shape.


  3. Kneed on a flour-sprinkled surface for 5-8 minutes or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place in a clean bowl greased with oil and leave to rest in a warm place for 30 minutes.


  4. Divide dough into 8 even-sized portions. Roll out on a flour-sprinkled surface with a cake pin until paper-thin.


  5. Line a baking tray with baking paper and spray well with non-stick food spray. Place dough on baking tray and sprinkle cheese over. Bake for 8-10 minutes or till golden brown and crispy. Remove from oven and leave to cool down.


  6. Cover each loaf with baking paper and tie with pretty kitchen string. Serve with mushroom pate.
