Chocolate crème caramel

A family-sized crème caramel decorated with macaroons and fresh berries. What’s not to love?

Ingredients (serves 8 people)

  • 80ml water
  • 150g (190ml) sugar
  • 250ml milk
  • 125ml cream
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 eggs
  • 60ml cacao powder
  • 5ml vanilla essence
  • 75g (95ml) sugar
  • 8 chocolate macaroons
  • 125g fresh strawberries, halved

  1. Heat oven to 160°C.

  2. Bring water and 150g sugar to the boil in a medium-sized pot. Leave to boil for 8-10 minutes until it changes into a golden caramel.

  3. Spray a bread pan of 10x15cm with non-stick food spray. Pour warm caramel into the bread pan and leave to stand until congealed.
