Sheer literally means sweetened milk and khurma means raisins; doesn’t that combination already make your mouth water? Besides raisins, you can also add almonds, dry dates and pistachios to infuse a collage of exotic flavours and aromas to this already delectable Iftar dessert recipe. Ingredients (serves 4 people)

  • National vermicelli: ½ cup
  • Ghee: 1 tbsp
  • Milk: 1 litre
  • White cardamom: 3
  • Pistachio sliced: 3 tbsp
  • Almonds sliced: 3 tbsp
  • Saffron: ½ tsp
  • Sugar: ½ cup heaped
  • Dry dates: 4 sliced
  • Khoya: 2 tbsp

Directions

  1. To make your very own Sheer Khurma, first heat up ghee in a pan.


  2. To it, add both, the white cardamom and vermicelli. Heat till they’ve browned.


  3. That done, now you have to pour in the milk along with some sliced dry dates. Cook this entire mixture for 5 minutes.


  4. Add in the sugar, almonds, khoya, saffron and pistachios once you notice the dates softening up.


  5. Is your mouth watering already? Just give it another 5 minutes to cook.


  6. And voila! Your Shahi Sheer Khurma is ready to serve, either hot or cold, based on preference.
