Easy To Make Snacks: Pecan Cookie Recipe for Kids To Try

Mother's Day is here, so its time to make some great memories in the kitchen! Give mom a break this year by whipping up these oh-so-easy cookie recipes.

Ingredients (serves 6 people)

  • 1 cup (250 mL) pecans, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30 mL) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (250 mL) light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Melted bittersweet chocolate

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper

  2. In bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until well blended. Beat in egg and vanilla

  3. Add flour, baking powder and salt; beat until blended. Stir in pecans

  4. Spoon heaping teaspoons of batter onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 3 inches (7 1/2 centimeters) apart

  5. Bake for 6 minutes. Let cookies cool on baking sheet 5 minutes or until firm; cool completely

  6. Dip one edge of cookies into melted chocolate. Place on waxed paper; let stand until set. Store in airtight container
