Vanilla Buttercream Frosting Cupcake Recipe

Ingredients (serves 10 people)

  • For cupcakes:
    2 cups (500 mL) flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) salt
  • 2 teaspoons (2 mL) baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup (250 mL) milk
  • For frosting:
    1 cup (250 mL) butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 (875 mL) cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) milk
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 mL) salt

  1. For cupcakes:
    Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C). Line muffin cups with papers Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, and then beat in eggs one at a time Add flour (mixed with baking powder and salt) alternating with milk. Beat thoroughly, and then divide evenly among pans and bake for 18 minutes. Let cool

  2. For frosting:
    In a bowl, combine butter, sugar and salt. Beat until blended Add the milk and vanilla and beat for an additional 3 to 5 minutes or until smooth and creamy
