Healthy Detox Recipe: Roasted Broccoli and Mushrooms

Broccoli is considered a superfood. It’s high in vitamins A and D and high in fiber. Roasting makes cooking easy and adds caramelized flavor. Toss in some nutrient-dense mushrooms and you’ll have a side dish to pair with just about any plate.

Ingredients (serves 4 people)

  1. 450g broccoli, rinsed and trimmed
  2. 225g brown mushrooms, cleaned and halved
  3. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  4. Salt and pepper
  5. Balsamic vinegar or lemon juice (optional)


1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

2. Cut the broccoli florets, and peel and cut the stalk into 1cm thick, round slices.

3. Place vegetables on a sheet pan and combine with olive oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

4. Roast for 15-18 minutes, until fork tender.

5. Finish with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar or lemon juice if desired to add depth of flavour.

6. The simplest way to detoxify is to just say “no” to processed food.
