Healthy Detox Smoothie: Carrot-Beet-Ginger Mix

This detoxifying, nutritious and delicious smoothie will help you get on the path for a healthy new year. Carrots are a great source of beta carotene (vitamin A). Beets are rich in antioxidants and if you’re retaining water, can help relieve that, too. Chia seeds add protein, omega-3s and crunchy texture. Hit the farmers market and bust out the blender. Your body will thank you.

Ingredients (serves 1 people)

  1. 1 large or 2 medium beets, peeled and quartered
  2. 2 large carrots, peeled and chopped
  3. 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled
  4. ½ cup of water or unfiltered apple juice
  5. 1 tablespoon chia seeds


1. Combine beets, carrots and ginger in blender. Add ¼ cup of liquid to help get the blades moving. Add more liquid if desired. Blend until smooth.

2. Stir in chia seeds. Let smoothie sit for 1 to 2 minutes so they can plump up.
