Chocolate creme caramel

A family-sized creme caramel decorated with macaroons and fresh berries. What’s not to love?


Ingredients (serves 8 people)

  1. 80ml water
  2. 150g (190ml) sugar
  3. 250ml milk
  4. 125ml cream
  5. 4 egg yolks
  6. 2 eggs
  7. 60ml cacao powder
  8. 5ml vanilla essence
  9. 75g (95ml) sugar
  10. 8 chocolate macaroons
  11. 125g fresh strawberries, halved

Directions

1. Heat oven to 160°C. 

2. Bring water and 150g sugar to the boil in a medium-sized pot. Leave to boil for 8-10 minutes until it changes into a golden caramel.

3. Spray a bread pan of 10x15cm with non-stick food spray. Pour warm caramel into the bread pan and leave to stand until congealed.
