Simple Tricks To Get Your House Squeaky Clean

Neat tricks that will help to get your house squeaky clean with minimal time and effort.

I’m not a fan of heavy duty cleaning, or any sort of cleaning at all, for that matter. Don’t get me wrong, I love having things that are clean around the house, but the process, urgh…that ain’t a whole lot of fun.

I suppose there is a sense of satisfaction that comes from admiring a sparkling clean home after many grueling hours of scrubbing. But most of the time, I wish there’s a magic wand I can wave to make all the grease and grime disappear without having to spend hours up to my elbows in gross-looking gunk.

And then there’s the time factor. I’d much rather be spending all those cleaning hours on say, playing hide and seek with the kids or trying a new baking project together.

With that, here are some neat tricks that will help to get your house squeaky clean with minimal time and effort.

1. Make a miracle cleaning potion.
This right here is a major lifesaver when it comes to getting rid of most stains on fabrics, carpets and mattresses. Mix 1 part of Joy dishwashing liquid with 2 parts of hydrogen peroxide to form a miracle cleaning potion. Put the mixture in a spray bottle, give it a quick spritz and watch the stains disappear. Also, check out how to remove bed bugs from mattresses.

2. For REALLY stubborn stains on the carpet, use an iron.
If the miracle solution in step 1 doesn’t work, it’s time to bring out the big guns. Mix 1 part of white vinegar with 3 parts of warm water in a spray bottle, spritz on the stain, cover with a damp cloth and iron over the cloth until the stains are removed.

3. Microwave sponges to keep them germ free.
Pop those mildewy sponges in the microwave for 2 minutes on high to get rid of germs and viruses that accumulate on the sponges. Remember to do this only with your non-metal sponges.

4. Restore shine to stainless steel anything.
Mix a few drops of water with cream of tartar, dip a sponge in the solution and wipe down stainless steel appliances with the mixture to get them looking all shiny and brand new again.

5. Vanilla heaven.
To get rid of funky odors in the house, place two caps full of vanilla extract it in the oven at 300 degrees for an hour. Within 20 minutes, the entire house will smell heavenly.

6. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
Microwave a mixture of lemon and water for 5 minutes on high, allowing the steam to condense on the roof and walls. Next, grab a cloth and give the interiors a wipe down to remove the splattered stains. Quick and easy.

7. More lemon tips: Descaling
To descale a kettle, mix lemon juice and water in a kettle and bring it to a boil, then leave it to soak until the water cools down. Finally, rinse it with clean water and you’re good to go.

8. Yay to salt.
Sprinkle some coarse salt on an ironing board, set the iron to the maximum temperature, turn off the steam function and iron away. The dirt will stick to the salt, leaving the iron’s base clean and sparkly.

9. Three words: slow cooker liners.
Slow cookers are a real pain to clean so remember to use liners! Once you’re done, just remove and throw.
