Top 5 Ways to Get Rid Of Blackheads at Home

Top 5 Ways to Get Rid Of Blackheads at Home

You needn’t visit a salon or spend an exorbitant amount of money to get rid of blackheads; you can just as easily do it at home.

Blackheads occur when your pores become clogged with excess sebum (anoil created by the sebaceous glands that keeps skin supple) and dead skin cells. The difference between a black head and a white head is basically whether the pore is open or closed. If the pore is open, the plug of sebum oxidizes as it is in contact with the oxygen in air, making it black.

Here are 5 proven and effective home remedies to get rid of those pesky blackheads:

1. Bentonite Clay

How to get rid of blackheads by using Bentonite Clay:

Its molecules get electrically charged when wet, which is why Bentonite Clay does an amazing job of drawing out oils or other impurities locked in pores. When you apply the mask, your skin drinks in all the minerals while the clay simultaneously draws out the blackhead.

Requirements

  • 1 tbsp Bentonite Clay
  • Water

Method

  1. Mix in enough water to form a paste that is thick but still applicable.
  2. Using clean fingertips, cover your face with a thin layer of paste and let it sit for 15-25 minutes.
  3. Rinse off with lukewarm water and moisturize.

2. Egg-White Mask

How to remove blackheads by using egg-white mask:

Egg whites form an easy mask that can be used to temporarily tighten pores, thus reducing chances of future blackheads, while removing current blackheads.

Requirements

  • 1 egg
  • Facial tissue
  • A small bowl
  • A clean towel

Method

  1. First, pat your face dry and then apply a thin layer of egg white over your skin.
  2. Now, place a strip of facial tissue over the wet egg white, pressing it onto your face gently.
  3. Allow the first layer to dry and then carefully apply a second layer of egg white using the tissue.
  4. When the mask is dry, your face may feel tight; this is supposed to happen.
  5. Peel the tissue off and then gently wash your face to remove any residue.
  6. Pat dry and moisturize as usual.

3. Honey and Milk Pore Strips

Remove blackheads by using honey and milk strips made at home:

Honey is known to have antibacterial properties and the lactic acid in milk is said to help keep skin soft and supple. When mixed, they together act as an adhesive which helps pull out blackheads.

  5. Let it dry (to play it safe, wait at least 20 minutes) and carefully peel the strip away.
  6. Rinse with cold water and moisturize as usual.

4. Cinnamon & Honey Strips

Learn to remove blackheads with cinnamon and honey:

Cinnamon and honey are a wonderful combination for getting rid of blackheads. The anti-bacterial agents in the honey help keep the blackhead causing bacteria away while acting as an adhesive to pull out anything clogging your pores. Cinnamon improves circulation and this increased blood flow gives your skin a healthy glow.

Requirements

  • 1 part cinnamon powder
  • 1 part organic, raw honey
  • Clean strips of cotton

Method

  1. Mix honey and cinnamon together until you have enough paste to cover the affected area.
  2. Apply a thin layer over the blackheads and then press a strip of clean cotton over it.
  3. Now, let it sit for 3-5 minutes before removing and rinsing your face.
  4. Follow up with a good moisturizer.

5. Toner to Shrink Pores

How to remove blackheads with the help of natural lemon toner:

Since blackheads are caused by open, clogged pores reacting to oxygen, it makes sense that shrinking your pores down will help. Lemon juice is the perfect astringent substance needed to get the job done. However, it can lighten skin temporarily and make it sensitive to the sun; so stock up on sunscreen if you plan on using this method in summer. If you have sensitive skin, try diluting the lemon juice with water first.

Requirements

  • 1 lemon
  • Cotton balls
  • A small bottle

Method

  1. First, rinse your face and pat it dry.
  2. Now, squeeze the lemon juice into a small bottle and then use just enough to dampen a cotton ball.
  3. Apply it to the affected areas 3-4 times a week, at bedtime.
  4. When you wake up, rinse your face with lukewarm water and apply a moisturizer.
  5. Store the rest of the juice in the refrigerator for up to a week.
