Tips To Manage Stress & Live Healthy@ Reward Me

Relation Between Stress & Your Skin Health

Stress is not simply psychological. It causes physiological changes to the body too. Here’s how to decipher it and cope with it.

Everyday seems to be a marathon. What with work and responsibilities, stress is bound to creep in somewhere or the other. Stress is not simply psychological. It causes physiological changes to the body too. Here’s how to decipher it and cope with it.

Stress produces cortisol, a hormone which causes inflammation of organs in your body, including skin. Inflammation of the skin causes pores to get blocked and so they clog up. Inflamed collagen cause wrinkles. Inflammation of the skin also causes itchiness, dryness and acne. So if you think you are living a stress free life but are having any of these symptoms, then think again.

The age old maxim applies. Prevention is better than cure. Instead of trying to save your skin from stress, get rid of your stress itself. Try self-soothing exercises like deep breathing, mediation or yoga. Carve out some alone time in your schedule to ease your mind. Taking luxurious baths and showers is known to decrease stress. Take care of your skin too, of course, keep it hydrated by moisturizing it- preferably when damp.
