Lips Trick: How to Make Your Own Lip Balm At Home.

DIY Natural Lip Balms For Chapped Lips

Making your own natural lip balm helps you control what goes into it. This is great if you have something specific in mind and also if you’re allergic to anything.

Come winter and chapped lips become as frequent an occurrence as the topic of Christmas. While there are myriad lip balms available in the market, you don’t know how your skin will react to them. What’s more, winter tends to make skin all over your body all the more sensitive and prone to irritation. Which is why, you’d be doing your lips a favour by making your own lip balm using natural ingredients you know won’t harm your skin.

  1. First you have to pour the butter and oil in a measuring cup to get the right amount as mentioned in the ingredients section above.
  2. Next, put the mixture in a microwave for a couple of minutes till it has melted.
  3. To this liquid, add your beeswax and again, put into the microwave to melt it into the liquid. By now the measuring cup will be very hot, so take care when handling.
  4. Using a spoon made of stainless steel, mix all three of them together thoroughly. Ensure that all the ingredients have completely fused into each other.
  5. Remove the spoon and let the residue on it cool. This serves as a simple and convenient way to test the consistency of your balm. If you want it softer, add more oil and if you want it harder, use more beeswax.
  6. When you’re satisfied with the consistency of your soon-to-be lip balm, it’s time to add in a few drops of the essential oil.
  7. Now, to add some colour to your lip balm, simply add a teeny weeny amount of organic herb powder (beetroot for example) and stir the mixture to prevent lump formation. You have to make sure that it is lump free.
  8. You’re almost done! Now, just the mixture into lip balm tubes.Voila, homemade lip balm!

There are fewer feelings as empowering as knowing that you can make your own skin care products. Not only are you self-reliant but your lips will look luscious too!
