Your Skin Needs Pampering During Winter

In winter, your skin is uncomfortable. It is dry, taut, etc. Here is some advice on how to hydrate it.

Make sure there is enough humidity in the air

During winter, our skin is constantly exposed to dry, hot air from heaters. To prevent your skin from drying out, install a humidifier in your home or office. Plus if you have a cold, the humid air will help clear your respiratory tract too.

Bathe yourself in lavender

To hydrate dry skin, dive into a bath with lavender oil. Fill the bath tub with warm water, add 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil, ½ a teaspoon of lavender oil and ¼ teaspoon of grapeseed oil. This mixture soothes, hydrates and revitalizes skin.

Limit skincare treatments

Are you in the habit of using face masks, exfoliators and other facial treatments? They remove the skin's natural lipid barrier. Space out these treatments so that skin has the time to restore its natural moisture in between. Replace your usual treatments with humid treatments that make skin cells more supple.

Eat flaxseed

Flaxseed oil hydrates you from within. Flaxseed reduces skin redness, irritation and inflammation. Add 1 soup spoon of flaxseed to your breakfast cereal or to bread dough when you bake your own.

Stay faithful to the basics

For beautiful skin all year long, there are two crucial items: water and sunscreen. Drink enough water every day. And use a cream with an SPF of at least 15 that protects from both UVA and UVB.
