Style an Up - Do by Reward Me

How To Style An Unfussy Up-Do

We love easy styles that look fab. This one is easy, fab and on trend. Seen stacked high or wrapped in the media, hair is reaching new heights.

Step 1 - Take it up. Roll your hair into a chignon, but don’t tuck away the length of hair – you’re going to use it to create the round shape on top of your head.

Step 2 - Smooth it back. Place a dab of light-hold balm in your hand, rub your hands together and lightly smooth over the swept-back hair to keep it in place. The difference in textures makes this style interesting and modern.

Step 3 - Curl. Apply a curl activator to the length of hair outside of the chignon and scrunch it to create volume and curl.

Step 4 - Secure. Turn the hair around itself and secure it into a high ‘bun’. Don’t try to tidy it up too much. It should be loose and messy. Secure it with hair-pins to hold it in place.

Step 5 - Shine. Arrange and secure the pieces, then spray with a shine spray that has a hold factor to keep hair in place.

Step 6 - Accesorise. Accessories this season are bold and graphic.

Save!
Use the diffuser on your hairdryer (rather than a curl activator) to coax curls into shape. It takes a little longer but it does save money.

Fast!
Create a fast and fabulous chignon by starting with a ponytail. Comb your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic band, then arrange the hair into a high ‘bun’. Smooth the front section and spray for hold.

Handy tips

  1. Remember, these styles are easier to do when your hair is not quite clean, so wash your hair the day before you intend to style it.
  2. If your hair is dead straight, plait it when it’s damp for added movement. When it’s dry, loosen the plait and backcomb it lightly for perfect texture.
  3. If the ends of your hair are frizzy, smooth on a little serum. Do this after you’ve secured your hair, otherwise the style might slip.
  4. To muss the style up a little, backcomb it when you’ve secured it – but before you spray it to hold it in place.
