7 Braided Hairstyles for Long Hair.

DIY Hairstyles - 7 Novel Braids For Long Hair

Just because you don’t want to leave your hair loose doesn’t mean that tying it up needs to look any less glamorous.

Is summer forcing you to tie up your gorgeous long locks to deal with the rising mercury? People say you can have either comfort or style; we say these braids for long hair will give you both.

7 Alluring Braided Hairstyles For Long Hair

1. French Braid

  1. Begin with all of your hair down
  2. Now with a mild brush detangle your tresses. You can condition your hair after shampooing it with a mild conditioner like Pantene Pro-V Silky Smooth Conditioner for easy, manageable hair!
  3. Gather the central top section of your hair
  4. Use a transparent elastic band to tie it
  5. Take a section from both sides and cross over the central part
  6. Keep adding a new chunk of hair to each section
  7. Keep doing this until you reach the neckline
  8. Take the hair that’s remaining and pull it around your shoulder
  9. Finish up with a regular braid
  10. Cut the elastic band on top

2. Waterfall Braid

  1. Grab a front section of your hair either on the right or left side of your face
  2. Start making a normal 4 strand braid
  3. Use this 3-step technique:
    1. Add a piece on top.
    2. Instead of picking up a piece from the bottom and adding it in, let it drop.
    3. Then pick up a piece from behind that piece and add it in.
  4. Keep doing this until you reach the back of your head or you can also go as far as you want
  5. Secure it with an elastic band
  6. Repeat on the other side

3. Boho Braid

  1. Start with 3 pieces of hair
  2. The top piece goes under the middle piece
  3. The bottom piece goes under the top piece
  4. Add a section of hair to the bottom piece
  5. Hold the bottom and middle piece in the hand that’s nearest your forehead
  6. Hold the top piece with your thumb and pointer finger
  7. Use your other hand to add to that top piece
  8. Take the middle section and place it over the top piece
  9. Take the bottom piece and place it underneath the middle
  10. Repeat the last 5 steps
  11. Essentially you’re just adding to both sides and placing them under the middle
  12. Secure with an elastic band

4. Braided Pony

  1. You will need bobby pins
  2. Split your hair into 2 sections at the back of your head
  3. Using your right hand index finger grab a piece from the right section and place it over the left section
  4. Using your left hand index finger, place a piece from the left section over the right section
  5. Repeat this twice
  6. Take a piece from the right side and wrap it around the ponytail base
  7. Use 2 bobby pins to secure in place

5. Milkmaid Braid

  1. Wash hair with a mild shampoo
  2. Air dry for texture
  3. Leave loose. Now we begin.
  4. Divide your hair into 2 sections as you would if you were going for pigtails
  5. Bunch up a section at the top
  6. Tie up the remaining bottom hair section into a ponytail so it doesn’t get in the way. Just let it hang in the back.
  7. Use a mild hairspray and a brush to tease all the hair (except the ponytail part)
  8. This will make your hair look big, so use a brush to smoothen the top
  9. Tie your hair in a ponytail (This is the second one)
  10. Pull the hair from this ponytail a bit to make it look voluminous and even
  11. Now braid this ponytail and secure it with an elastic band
  12. Wrap this braid around at the back to create a bun and use a bobby pin or two to secure it
  13. Take the bottom ponytail (The one we made earlier, remember) and split it in half
  14. Take the left section and braid it.
  15. Bring it up over the top of your head and across to the right side. Use 2 bobby pins to secure in place.
  16. Repeat for the right section

6. Twisted Crown Braid

  1. Near your hair parting, gather a triangle section
  2. Split this section into two more
  3. To your front piece of hair add a new section
  4. To your back piece of hair add a new section
  5. Place the front piece over the back one and twist the braids together.
  6. Don’t add any more new sections once you reach the back of your head.
  7. Simply keep twisting the two sections till the end comes and then tie with a clear elastic band
  8. Do the same thing on the other side
  9. This step is crucial: Simply hold one of your twists and push your index finger and thumb through any one gap. Use this gap to pull the other twist through it.
  10. Secure your twisted braid with bobby pins and lose the elastic band.

7. Rope Braid

  1. Make it a point to begin this hairstyle with well-combed hair
  2. Bunch your long locks in a ponytail and secure with an elastic band
  3. Split the ponytail into 2 sections.
  4. Take a strand in each hand
  5. Using a counter-clockwise finger movement, tightly twist each section with your hands.
  6. Form a braid with the twisted sections until you reach the end of your locks.
  7. Secure with an elastic band
